Are you coming to the Riviera Maya and looking for cool things to do?           I am sure you have heard about the Tulum Ruins and thought, yeah everyone has done that. It’s true, but a Tulum Ruins tour is a place of iconic beauty and a short stop to make a wonderful memory in the region. It is also a wonderful stop to mix with other fabulous things..

History and Culture

Tulum Ruins were one of the last cities built and inhabited by the Maya and achieved their greatest prominence between the 13th and 15th centuries. The ruins sit on seaside cliffs, high above turquoise waters that extend as far as the eye can see. Although the structures themselves are modest in comparison to other grand Maya cities, Tulum Ruins are one of the most visited archaeological zones in Mexico. Experiencing this with our ruins guides adds depth to this stunning location.

Natural Beauty of the Tulum Ruins is unmatched.

The Tulum ruins are sublime. They are a perfect spot for cute pictures and even though you cannot climb the ruins, it’s one of the few locations you can walk up and all around. They are the only ruins that are located along the Caribbean Ocean. The brilliance of the spot has made it iconic long before Justin Bieber came to visit. If you are older than 45 years old, you will know the movie, Against All Odds, which was filmed in the actual ruins’ grounds, when the area had one supermarket in Cancun and the was a small road down to the beach and ruins covered in grass. If you are younger than 45 go ahead and add it to your retro viewing list.

Accessibility of Tulum Ruins and Time on Site

Tulum Ruins are easily accessible for kids, although be prepared to do some toddler carrying and it is easier for people who do not have problems with mobility. Visiting Tulum Ruins can be done in a wheelchair, but we recommend either seeing the Ruins of Coba Ruins via 3-wheel cart taxi, or Chichen Itza which has much better access for visitors.

The Tulum Ruins location can be hot, with stone steps and uneven ground. We suggest no flip flops, and shoes that have a little bit of grip. We usually spend about 2 hours to 2.5 hours total with about 1 hour to 1.5 hours in the Ruins site itself.

Educational Experience

Visiting the Tulum Ruins can be an incredibly educational experience. Visitors can learn about the history and culture of the Maya people, as well as the architecture and engineering techniques used to construct the site. Mexico Sol Tours offers super knowledgeable guides who have a love of the Mayan Culture and are super happy to share that with our guests.

 Unique Tour

To make this even a more unique experience we offer this as a private tour just for our guests. We bring you in a private van, stocked with drinks and local goodies, that showcase our region. We cater to the dynamic needs of each group, whether it’s a bachelorette group, families with kids or history buffs, The Tulum Ruins are worth a visit.

Private Tour prices for your group can be as low as $35 usd per person if you are coming out on a boat charter with us, for just the ruins and free shopping time the price for 8 people is $69 usd per person. We suggest mixing the visit with a Turtle Snorkel or even a float down a mangrove path for an amazing experience.
