The Maya site may have been formerly also known by the name Zama, meaning city of Dawn. Tulúm is also the Yucateca, Mayan word for fence or wall (or trench), and the walls surrounding the site allowed the Tulum fort to serve as a defense against invasion. From the numerous depictions in murals and other works around the site, Tulum appears to have been an important site for the worship of the Diving or Descending god. The ruins themselves are not a large area. We recommend that you see them as we half-day and then you decide.

Our next visit will be to a beautiful cenote called Cenotes were considered entrances to the underworld by the Maya, this is an open cenote of magnificent turquoise crystal clear water where you can relax and take a refreshing swim or add some adrenaline to your day by jumping into the water from the platforms. There are also indoor caves or gruettas, where stalagtites or stalagmites have formed. 

This tour is perfect if you have plans later in the day, if you leave to the airport in the evening or at night and you want to seize your last day or if you want to take incredible pictures and get out of the resort for a while.We’ll provide you with snorkeling gear so you can see the entrances into the underwater caves and the fish that live in this beautiful oasis. You might also see scuba divers going in and out of the underwater caves of this awesome place.
