• In December 1987, Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve was declared a World Heritage Property by UNESCO, thanks to its unique biodiversity and fascinating Mayan history.  This is a Eco- Sustainable Tour.

Muyil Ruins

Muyil Ruins are located inland inside the Sian Ka’an Biosphere. This tour begins by boat, trailing thru the same paths used by Mayans as merchant trade routes between the ruins and the sea over 1000 years ago.  Once you arrive you will take a short hike thru the jungle to reach the ruins. Once there you will learn about the nature, history and wildlife located in the ruins and the biosphere.

There are six main structures ranging from two-meter-high (6.6-foot) platforms to the impressive Castillo. At 17 meters (51 feet), it is one of the tallest structures on the peninsula’s Caribbean coast. The Castillo is topped with a unique solid round masonry turret from which the waters of the Caribbean Sea can be seen. Unfortunately, climbing to the top is prohibited.

As you return you would be able to have the thrilling option to float down the canal as a natural current will carry you along. Most everyone floats slowly resting on their life jackets, listing to bird song and looking at the flaura along the path.
